That sounds about right.

It also talks about how BTH started out as an instrument interlude, and then a full song with those lyrics.

But it says that in the Meteora Booklet too, so I'm not sure if it was on the DVD or not.

speaking of which... on Frat Party didn;t they say that Somewhere I Belong (well it wasn't named at the time) was an instrumental..or were they just playing the basic sample? I forget. Oh well anyway:

I'd like to here BTH as an Istrumental..it could be really pretty if it's put together right. Especially with the Dave Campbell Orchestra. (i play violin so I really respect that)

 

First it was an interlude of 2 minutes. Brad and Joe said that he should turn the 2 minute interlude into a full song. It first title was 'Drawing' and was extenden to 3:16. Then he took it home to write the lyrics. In less than 2 hours, the lyrics he had been trying to put together for years fell into pieces. With some finishing touches, live piano and live strings, the song was finally complete - six years in the making

About somewhere i belong: Chester was playing the basic riff, then Mike came, chopped it in 4 pieces and moved it around and put some effects to it.

 

And by effects, Chris really means "Flipped it backwards."

Just like he did with the Pushing Me Away remix.

Interesting fact about BTH for those who haven't read this fact yet: In the loops throughout the song, you can hear a distinct creaking noise just before the start of a new measure. That was some external noise from the recording that didn't get caught until mixing. Luckily, it went with the music, so it stayed in.

The first 'creak' is at the 10 second mark, then 13, 15, etc.

It does not mean fans can start writing facts about people they dont even know e.g. LP. The information on enclyopedias are obtained from authentic sources e.g Close friends of LP, People behind the scenes in music who are working with LP etc. Online enclopedias cannot write incorrect facts about an item, person or event as they would be proseceuted by local authorities for displaying false information.

I stand by my statement about Mike writing the song about chester (Chester's abused childhood) Chester joined LP in 1999 not 1998. And Mike has learned from Chester's devastating childhood and was trying to write a song for chester 1-2 years before Meteora came out in 2003.

 

ok for ur first stament..yes that's is true...but people can add their own info (i know..i myself have done so) that means taht not everything that's on there is true

as forr your second stament this has already been answered and I dont beleive you are correct. The song in question had been a work in progress before mike even met chaz. It was eaither about the fans' stories or about Mike's friend..and I refuse to believe otherwise until some one actualyl TALKS TO LINKIN PARK and they say otherwise. TYVM

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia where anyone can add their own definitions and information about a subject. If it looks authentic (meaning the staff doesn't check for validity), it's added. There is no process where they find it's true, so your sources are completely irrelevant and flawed.

Your timeline is also flawed. If Mike was trying to write the song for 5-6 years, that means he was trying to write it before Chester joined the band in 99. He would've been writing it at the very earliest in 97, before Chester joined. [/b][/quote]

U ALL JUST DONT KNOW WHEN 2 BACK DOWN. SOMETIMES U HAVE 2 STAND DOWN WHEN YOUR WRONG. IN THIS CASE YOU ALL ARE! MIKE WROTE THIS SONG 4 CHESTER approx 2 years before meteora was released. This was 2001. Chester had been in the band 2-3 years then before mike decided 2 write a song about chaz's childhood

 

I always thought the song was about changing decisions for the better. I thought chester decided to play music with the band INSTEAD of commiting suicide. This kinda shows how music saves Chester's life. As time goes backwards it gives the oppurtunity for the other people in the video to make better choices as well. It shows that Breaking the Habit can improve your life for the better.

Note: I do not know any of this for sure. I have absolutely no sources or information to back this up outside of what I can take from the video. This is solely my opinion and cannot be viewed as a fact.
