This is relatively tame as far as stupid goes. Once we start getting more information, it's going to be a pain reading these threads. Right now it's a only minor ache.
Glad I don't need to look into every single post if I don't want to.. the best of luck to the admins haha for the next two months. I'm listening to some of the bands/albums of Mike's 'Yelling over guitars list' he posted on Spotify btw. Good thing that LP is inspired by stuff like that to some degree but I'm also glad that LP is way more talented than those bands... good reminder of the fact that they remain a very very talented band despite the 'main-stream' direction they so often head into. Can't wait for june!
Did you just say that LP were more talented than At The Drive-In? More talented than Omar Rodriguez-Lopez?! Let me get this straight here. You think Brad Delson is more technically proficient than this?:
Brad Delson fortunately is comparatively deficient in both areas in comparison to Omar. So it's a moot point.
Regardless of how proficient Delson may be as a guitar player, Linkin Park have nearly always written lacklustre guitar parts. And, then, their bass and drum parts don't tend to be much better.
Okay well that are some groovy played strings (very likeable and very good).. and I have to admit that the guitar in that song is marvelous. I admit that I never heared something like that played by Brad. Not saying that he can't btw.. who knows. But I said 'band' not 'Brad' The production of LP songs as a whole is so well done.. Hard to top imo (but hey, maybe I'm a bit blind or 'deaf' when it comes to LP, even after al these years). Oh, in my defense... what other band can play the headphone jack? Yeah... listen to that 'attack with a certain tone to it'
Well, yes, that is undeniably an area where the band have always excelled. They've mentioned in the past how capable they are at making even their worst ideas "sound really good". It's a double-edged sword.
I'm pretty sure I fooled around and did something similar with my guitar/amp back in high school Not trying to make you think any less of the band (I think), but sometimes fans can be misled into thinking things are a lot more creative than they really are. Yeah, I forgot Mike admitted that. Their production skills have actually been one of their downfalls more often than not.
Hehe yeah I know, who didn't actually make this sound goofing around with amp jacks or something like that. But you've got to admit that the little lights in Mike's eyes dance around when he's doing that stuff... And don't worry, nobody can ever make me think less of the band. Not that I'm really blinded because of being a fan, some of their recent live appearences made me look away from time to time for example. It's just that I love (like a lot of you) the total picture at the end of the day. Worried about this record in terms of production in advance? As it will be mainly self-produced?
Don't assume such things. You'd think everyone would know how amazing Tom Morello is at playing guitar, but then again I thought everyone would know the amazingness that is Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of At The Drive-In and Mars Volta fame.
