Progressive Metal mastermind Devin Townsend has revealed the release date and cover art for the upcoming 7th installment in the Devin Townsend Project series, "Transcendence." Set to be released on September 2nd, the album is engineered by Periphery's bass guitarist and producer/engineer, Nolly. The album is also set to feature a bonus disc, on top of the main album. Below is the original recording of Truth, which is set to be re-recorded, and open up Transcendence. In addition to the release date and cover art announcement, Devin Townsend has revealed Transcending The Coma Tour, a North American tour where he and the DTP will be co-headlining with Progressive Metal band Between the Buried and Me, with Progressive Death Metal band Fallujah serving as the opening act. Between the Buried and Me will be at all dates except for the first 5 shows of the tour. Townsend has set such an impossibly high standard and this is another excellent entry in a catalog brimming with them. That said, it extends the boundaries explored on Sky Blue, and delivers--in full--on the promise it presented.Townsend takes his fusion of weighty progressive metal and string, horn and choir sections to lofty heights here, not unlike what he achieved with Epicloud and Sky Blue. Pinoy channel live The bloat of Transcendence seems to be a problem inherent to post-2011 DTP, and appears to be symptomatic of a group trying to deviate around a winning formula of the past rather than one keen on developing the innovation they were built to achieve.
