A lot of people on Youtube say: "True LP fans love all the albums!"

    Is this statement correct?

I hate the whole concept people seem to have of a "true fan." A fan is a fan, just because you blindly love everything a band does doesn't make you any more of fan than someone who realizes the flaws in a work, but still appreciates the band for that they are.

A true fan of all the albums would love all the albums.

The only prerequisite to being a "true LP fan" is that you call yourself one.

Agree. And as a fan of both LP and Dream Theater I know that feel, bro.

His trolling was only funny for the first two posts when he was inherently being an idiot (Meteora approached as a concept album? cmon guys). Now that he is banned the arguments in the forum will at least have two sides where BOTH sides are well-thought out

I don't think there's really any way to say that someone is a "true" fan of a given band. I consider myself a big fan of LP but that doesn't mean I am a "truer" fan than, say, a casual listener. It really comes down to how much one enjoys the music, so it's safe to say that those of us who have listened to all of LP's albums appreciate their discography more than someone who may have just listened to Hybrid Theory when it first came out.

    P. S. Why was Pikachu banned, anyway? From what I could tell, he had toned down the aggressiveness in his posts and was generally calmer than when he first registered.

Yes, I believe a "true fan" would have to enjoy all the albums, they just don't have to enjoy all the songs from every album, and at the very least avoid bashing the band you claim to be a "true fan" for.
Now this is all personal input so whether you agree or disagree with my mentality is fine with me, but Linkin Park fans are the perfect example. I'd say a large majority of the LPA fanbase are not "true fans" because of the large dislike for Meteora, LIVING THINGS, RECHARGED, etc. This goes the same for the LP fans outside of the LPA that simply care for HT, Meteora, and LT (or not), but hate ATS and MTM.

You would never hear people who are passionate about film say things like "if you don't like all of Brad Pitt's movies, you aren't a true fan." I don't understand why this idea of "true" fandom happens so often in music. I don't see it in any other art form.

I used to always believe there was something called a "true fan." But in reality, it doesn't exist. You're a fan or you're not, no need to categorize fans of a band.

The true fan label is overrated.

As for the albums, you can like and dislike any of them.

You cant have a true without a universal definition of what that is. One fan will say "I have all the music, merch, special shit, etc." Some will say "Well I've seen ever fucking show they've ever played." Some will say "Well I have all of Chester's tattoos." Some will say "Well I know every detail of their lives and I use that to stalk them." That last one is a true story BTW. No one even knows what a true fan is. So really theres no such thing.

I can see this topic getting out of control. If you're a fan, you're a fan. That being said, most on-point posts have made this simple "Yes/No" answer thread useless to continue talking about in just one page. So before people start whipping out their fandoms, I'm going to close this thread. Thanks for playing.
