Why does Linkin Park have to do tracks with rappers?

Who cares? The only track that didn't turn out that great was "Slow Your Roll".

Which is where I beg to differ with you. Slow Your Roll was excellent and showed Chester's range.

I didn't say it was bad. I just don't think it was great. Chester's part was great in that song but I couldn't really listen to Young Buck that long.

Is the tracklisting of SOTD not newsworthy?

Yeah but I meant LP, not Mike. Why Chester to? I like side projects and stuff, but not when LP as a whole does something.

It seems as if people almost forget that Linkin Park from the very beginning were never meant to be intended as just a simple rock band, but instead as a fusion of HIP-HOP, rock and electronica (as well as other genres). To shit on the band for collaborating with another rap artist (when they are rap/hip-hop themselves in some respects) is extremely strange and some people need to get past the idea that lp are sooo metal! \\m/ because they are more than just your average run of the mill rock band.

Thats why MTM isnt their best work, because they lost the rap. As much as Mike did that on purpose, he is a talented emcee and thus he needs to allow himself to shine a lot more on the next record as there is no reason to hide what hes got.

Perhaps the lack of rap on MTM is why theyre doing so many hip-hop collaborations. It only makes sense.

Well Mikes been quoted as saying that they tried putting rap verses on some songs on Minutes and it sounded cheezy, so why disrupt the sound by trying to maintain a stat quo that is LP, when you can just branch out and forget about titles and whatnot and try to make good music. Mike displayed his abilities as a rapper flow wise on Bleed it Out, and his skills as a lyricist on Hands Held High. With bsides like Qwerty, and hopefully more to surface through Underground 7.0 and whatnot, its not like they abandoned the rap side of the music. Also, what makes good music is NOT how different you sound to other bands, its just the quality and depth you create with whichever particular genre your working with. Not only did LP implement more styles with this record, but they did it well. I still prefer Hybrid Theory, but Minutes has more depth and was more important to LP as a band.

Anyway heres LP's acceptance speech at EMA 07

    Maybe update the news section?

Chester Bennington is featured in the latest issue of Rolling Stone as part of their "Future of Music" special. He answers just a handful of question about the future of the industry and music in general along with 21 other musicians.

The special is part of Rolling Stone's 40th anniversary special.

As of now, there's no link on their website. I saw it in the magazine when it arrived in my mailbox today.

I don't have a scanner, but here's what I can do for you.

First off, a link to the digital edition of this week's Rolling Stone is located here:
    http://www.rollingstoneextras.com/rsdigitaledition/editionLg.php

Within the flash piece that comes up, it gives you page options. Go to page 108 and you can read the digital version of the article (you can type in 108 in the page number box as a shortcut).

Or, if you just want the text, here's the copied text of the article:

Mike just announced on KROQ that there'll be a new episode of LPTV tomorrow on the LP youtube. Take it for what it's worth.
