A teaser for the new album has been released: According to a recent Tweet by Jared, the album is going to have significantly less rock influence than the previous album: "looking through some comments from our recent teaser release. 4got how many rock fans liked our band. Sorry guys, much less rock on this one" Thoughts on this? I'm feeling a little worried to tell you the truth. The first album was 10/10 and by far my favorite album of the past few years and now I'm hearing they're dropping the rock and also changing their live set. Apparently the band want to go down the whole electro dance route like Deadmau5...this from the band that wanted to be "Don't Stop" as apposed to "Just Dance". I'm not gonna judge anything until I hear the new album but I'll be pretty devastated if it sucks.
I really like the teaser. And I don't have a problem with this new sound in the slightest. The first track snippet sounds ace! But I have to agree, dropping the rock vibe completely would be a bad move in my eyes. Luke is 100% correct though, their self titled effort was fantastic!
I love electronica as much as anyone else but IPS are just unique in the way they sound when they've got that rock element. I'm anxiously awaiting this album... I'll actually agree that the first track on the teaser sounds pretty badass...Money glitchfest (the second one) just sounds like nothing compared to the live version which rules. The third one just sounds terrible to me...sounds like Beegees meets 3oh3!. The fourth one sounds like it could have potential.
IPS's self-titled was amazing! Rock and electronic mixed to perfection! However, I'll not judge the new stuff before I hear it in full. Though, gotta admit, it sounded pretty awesome.
it's sad actually. Their real draw was that they mixed rock with electronics. Similar to why Enter Shikari are unique
Patrick says: "it's so fun to read how there are so many different opinions about the teaser when it's merely a tiny, tiny peak into what we have been working on. most of those songs are actually 'songs', with lyrics, etc... you just haven't heard the entire thing, merely just parts. jared is still playing drums. you also have to remember, we have no way of recording live drums well at the house. so no tracks will have them until they are near finished. also, we trashed the lights to build something much better. i might make the next teaser a minute and a half of blue whale sounds so you guys can discuss how it doesn't sound like dolphins like you had hoped. man, i need to get more sleep. free willy 2. regardless, we'll keep you all posted on what we are up to. update video will be coming soon, so you can see and hear the new things we are cooking up. i appreciate the support and interest regardless of the opinion, so, thanks!"
I saw that. That's actually a reply in the thread I created on the IPS forums lol. After listening to the teaser some more it's actually grown on me alot. Especially the first track - that sounds like it could be epic.
We've heard drum & bass from Innerpartysystem before, on that remix for 30 Seconds To Mars and before that on original beats which appeared on the Winter mixtape. And I know that post was in your thread, Luke.
Jesses is in the bands video update from February.. Unless its a recent thing?
Being that this band started a mere 20 minutes away from me, I've always kind of had a case of "home town pride" towards this band and will definitely check the CD out. I'm hoping that Jesse leaving the band does not play a significant role in changing their sound.
if its true about Jesse, then I have a horrible feeling it might have a huge impact on the bands sound although saying that I'm liking what I here in the various 'teasers'
Apparently one of the reasons Jesse is leaving is because the sound is changing for the new album. Seems pretty odds on that the rock side of the band will be dropped entirely which makes me think that with Jesse's departure, Kris will take up the synths full time. EDIT: Jesse's departure confirmed:
