When I talk about the BEST songs of LP, I talk about The Catalyst, The Little Things Give You Away, Roads Untraveled, Waiting For The End, Burning In The Skies, Iridescent or every other song from ATS or Castle of Glass. Why? Lyrics. BTH is the best song on Meteora. But still, it's overrated, the lyics is just childish, written for 14y old teens. Faint, like most of Meteora is an APFMH wannabe, no matter how the riff is catchy and energetic is. Castle of Glass is 10 in it's own category; In the lyrics category. Faint is 10 in the "energetic songs" category but 0 in the lyrics one. No matter how a song energetic is if the lyrics is a big 0. And that's why a song from Meteora and from Hybrid Theory (except My December, ITE or Papercut) can't be the best song. And that's why CoG can be the best song (but it's not the best).
This quote from Churchill is awesome: "All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope." I kinda forgot of my duties lately, but my honesty is intact. I wonder why love isn't mentioned in this quote.
It is subjective. it's all subjective. CoG is my second favorite LP song, but my favorite is BTH. Why? I love everything about it. and it is all subjective
Yes, you guys are all right, I'm just having a bad day. The last two days is just bad, my father being hospitalized and all kind of shit. And I'm just being rude with everyone around me. But of course it's all about opinions and tastes.
Yo dude! Don't apologize for yourself! Even though we have different opinions about music, don't let other people tell you what is good and what's not. If you say that CoG (or whatever) is the best, it is...for you. it is your truth. don't let other convince you otherwise. Stand up for yourself. and I'm sorry to hear about your father, I hope he's alright.
Yes, "stand up for yourself" it's OK in this case. If someone likes COG or not it's just about his taste in music today. As we evolve with time, tastes can change, too. Arguing for what we like or not is senseless. I can't stop myself thinking that sometimes we are making mistakes and I think that we have to be open minded to others' opinions, too. What intrigues me is that "your truth". In my opinion, the truth is one for all of us. That's how world could build some rules and models based on that. One example of such a model is Maslow's pyramid, or hierarchy of needs. At the base of it stand the physiological needs, next after that there are the security needs, and then there are the belonging, love needs, after that there is the need for respect and in top stand the self-actualization needs. We may not be aware of them sometimes (or never) but this is how they work for all of us. This is an example of truth, and it applies to everyone. Just my opinion.
Castle Of Glass is boring. The actual build-up and layered choruses comes too late, and by then it's all repetitive. The instrumental is pretty boring, the vocals fit the tone but come off rather lame, but the lyrics were nice. I'd give it a 6.5/10, nowhere near the best let alone the top 10.
Nope. Castle of Glass isn't Waiting For The End. As others have said, the song feels too short. I feel like the ending was very anticlimactic after the great build that was the rest of the song. It's like The Catalyst but without the epic conclusion.
Okay, my final decision. It's not their best song. But it is one of their best. Personally, my favourite LP song is Iridescent, followed by Waiting for the End
