And what was that about hating labels?

As everyone else has mentioned, YOU USE THEM YOURSELF.

    Damn emo kids. [/b][/quote]
    Exactly!!!

Rhetorical question: Can you ever truely know someone?

    A label is a label.

Label: To describe or classify someone.

    Who's Anson?

What I mean to say is that to classify someone with labels such as goth, emo, etc. is stereotypical. Classifying this Anson as your 'bf' (as that can mean best friend or boy friend) is not stereotypical as not everyone is your 'bf.'

Goth, emo, etc. on the other hand...

I still think you're labeling people. You dont want to become emo and punk so there you have it.

Hah. Noone is labelling me. Why not? Because they are too dumb to know what the names of the labels are. And besides, I'm only either at home or in school. And my school only has 55 people or something.

Well, generally we didn't have problems at school about labelling. Yes we called a group the 'Goth kids' because they defined themselves like that four years ago and it just stuck. At my former school, everybody labelled everybody so we were all like ''Yeah right, whatever.''

There is, however, one time where it went too far. It was when a girl with who I used to hang out tried to label me as a college. ''OMG! You're like so Maisonneuve! I mean, like, you are not Vieux Montréal at all! I'm more of that ype. But you know, I'm a real Ste-Hyacinthe girl!''

Yes I was offended that one time. Not because I hate labels. Just because I thought it was ridiculous to label people based on colleges!

(And for the record, she didn't get in Ste-Hyacinthe, but I got in Maisonneuve :p )

what sucks though is that people have been labeling others forever..it's really just a human impulse to judge someone. yes, they're stupid, but i think labels are just there. i try not to get offended by them and try not to label others. hopefully someday people will be less shallow.

Yeah, they try to feed the already thriving egomaniacal by branding [as if we're fuckin' cows] with useless labels [as if we're fuckin' soup cans] but I don't really care. I've seen this topic so many times.
