Holy shit I actually like it! The lyrics are dumb as hell but the delivery is great! This track is a banger! Just a fun song. Looks like I'm now 1-3 on OML tracks now.
Just listened to the whole song...definetly it is different from the other songs but it is not bad actually it is the best of the three out. Chester sounds good, Mike kills it, hats off to Stormzy and Pusha T. The music is great and the beat is in my head now hahaha...looking forward to the album
I'm starting to feel the song. It gets better after 20 listens. There are many layers in the track which are interesting to pay attention to.
Dang, I got excited when I saw some people commenting on how good this was, but right now it feels like there's nothing here for me... The chorus is nice enough, but when the "good goodbye" part starts repeating, it's boring as hell. Mike's delivery is pretty cool, Pusha is ok. and I just don't like Stormzy's style. So far, Heavy is leagues above this and BS.
Looking forward to the music video! --- Btw if anyone missed the All Things Loud interview with Mike, he said the following about Good Goodbye:
Honestly, It's a dumb but fun track. The instrumentals behind Mike and Stormzy are pretty damn effective, if you ask me. However, the chorus (and the typical "drop") gets repetitive very quickly and the chipmunk vocals are indefensible. I personally wouldn't want it on an album named after a song about the death of a friend, but whatever. I feel like a lot of you guys are exaggerating and overreacting. This track doesn't "prove" that Linkin Park has been shit all along or anything. We all know y'all are going to be here when (or, for some, if) they release the kind of music that you enjoy from them. If you don't believe they are capable of doing that, you probably wouldn't be on this forum after all (no matter how much you like the community). Following how Linkin Park changes things up is more than half the fun of being a fan of them (in my opinion).
Tbh, if LP is not such a wild fire I wouldn't be here at all. About the song, sounds fun to my ear and that's enough.
So I listened once and I must say it is fantastic! I'm pleasantly spruced by how good Stormzy's feature is. Pusha and Mike absolutely DESTROY IT. Beat is great. I am one who like Heavy and Battle Symphony, but Good Goodbye is the best our of the 3 by far. This should have been released as the first single. Now I just need it to come out on Spotify.
i think this is the first song off of the album that has a darker, more badass arrangement and bass-line, so I really dig that. Where Heavy was light and airy, GG feels like a gritty, stomping track. Mike's delivery has the right amount of passion, but I'm not really feeling that generic flow. I don't find it awful, just a bit flat. Pusha's vocals are the best fit for the instrumental in my opinion. Stormzy was alright. I'm not really a fan of rap either way. The instrumental itself is really fresh. I'm enjoying the intricacies and the layers, something that I felt the past two songs were lacking. Overall I feel it's a cool track. Fuck that chipmunk shit though.
Mike's verse is literally the best part of the song for me. The rest is just poor by Linkin Park standards.
Beat is different for them and I like that. Mike adopting the triplet flow and he does a good job of emulating. The hook is better than I expected.
I'm also fond of how Chester's vocals have sounded in each of the 3 songs we've heard so far. I like that we're not getting Numb-level of layering and production on his voice. It's not as raw as THP, but it's still raw enough to hear a lot of emotion in his voice. Noice.
I think I like this song the best so far. I like that the vibe of the song is kind of moody and upbeat at the same time. I have to say that I've been missing the hip hop elements lately, so I'm pretty happy with this Mike's verse has those typical Mike rap lyrics that I'm a bit sick of, but his delivery of them makes up for it.
FUCKING THIS!! I give a big damn shit about technical ability, deep lyrics or groundbreaking sounds. I like the music that catch my attention and let me listen to it all the time. even if this music is simple as fuck. and THIS IS Linkin Park for me.
Mike should be sued for plagarizing the LEGENDARY MJ Micheal Jackson "Beat It" They told him don't you ever come around here Don't want to see your face, you better disappear The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear So beat it, just beat it Linkin Park "Good Goodbye" So say goodbye and hit the road Pack it up and disappear You better have some place to go 'Cause you can't come back around here Good goodbye (Don't you come back no more)
Wow a whopping four words I'm shocked at the travesty that Linkin Park would do such a thing. Maybe I'll just go listen to some Papa Roach since clearly they are a much more talented group than Linkin Park ever thought to be.
11 years? You think you would have a little leeway if you have been working for a company for 11 years
