I don't know if it's incorrect here. Advertising has infiltrated the art. Usually when musicians are able to keep sponsorships separate from their creative work it's not a big deal. I guess it depends on how much you consider the band's music videos a part of their "art" or a part of their "brand."
I quite liked the video. It's funny and I like the 80s intro, and effects of sparks running on their shoes. Surprised to see the negative reactions.
Same thing with the "Funny or die" video. Tried to be funny but ended being cringy. I got a feeling that they tried to mimic "Kung Fury", an 80's movies parody. I don't understand. OML is supposed to be so serious, talking about death, suicide, drugs and personal problems. But then, "hey, look at those monsters playing mortal basketball kombat with a mercedes ad there".
Ok, watching the video made me like the song, more than I liked it when it first came out. It's not because of the video which is strange and sometimes funny (I wanted tl laugh out loud a few times but there are people around me), the message (if there is any) is beyond my comprehension. A guy with glowing eyes, Mike's rapping (so funny!) and a girl at the end-what?!
Kinda liked it, felt quite old school with that 80's aesthetic, looks like the guys had fun and who knew Chester had such skills. It's weird, but fun weird albeit cringey at times. And I really like how subtely they've stuck the Merc in both videos, you would never knew they had a commercial tie up. Seriously though, think there my be a bit of satire at play on that front.
I found this video entretaining. Like the 80s production design. It's cringe level is over 9000 but still, enjoyable music video
Yes. And when you consider that the "Burn it Down" and "LOST IN THE ECHO" videos also exist, it really says something.
I like it. Breaks from the super serious, melodramatic vids they are usually considered to do. It's just LP going batshit crazy, and it's quite entertaining.
Dont see how this were bad things. Fit perfect to the "emotional" kind of music of the Nu Metal era. Anger/sadness/disappointing etc. This is some LPU8 level of stupidness, which i want to see more often from the band tbh
Wait, Mike has said this again and again that this video should NOT be taken seriously as it was just a fun thing for them. And yet, surprise surprise. We have some fans just blowing everything out of proportion. And what is it with people and seeing an AMG in the video for 3 seconds? It's not like they stop the song in between for those 3 seconds and go "Get an AMG" or some nonsense. Talk about being over dramatic over absolutely nothing. /rant I literally blurted out "What am I watching!?" during this video. It was the most unexpected thing from the band and was exactly as what Mike said it was.
Yeah, I just don't see the big deal because their videos have been advertising tools before. The Castle of Glass video is just a drawn out ad for a video game. I guess since they've never utilized product placement it's throwing people off.
