Hi all, I've been thinking about this for a while, and perhaps a thread similar to this has been made in the past, but here goes... What if LP performed and recorded a concert with a live orchestra? Ever since I heard the magnificent "S&M" live album by Metallica I've always hoped that one day Our band might do somthing similar? http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26M_(Metallica_album) When Metallica did it, they collaborated with the great Michael Kamen (after collaborating with him on "Nothing Else Matters") to write and conduct some of the new parts for the band. It was quite an epic sight seeing the legendary band perform along side the seasoned musicians of the San Francisco symphony orchestra. Luckily for LP, We already have a handful of songs with gorgeous strings parts, arranged by David Campbell: Leave out all the Rest Shadow of the Day Hands Held High The Little Things Give You Away No Roads left Blackbirds As well as: Breaking the habit Opening & Krwlng from Reanimation Which all have live strings. Many other songs from the bands discography could work very well with live strings, so incorporating these tracks, what do you think the set lists could be?
I really don't see much of LP's music working well with a Symphony. The reason why Metallica worked so well, and a lot of other metal bands who have also incorporated strings, is because Metal and Classical Music actual share similar characteristics, something I don't see in Linkin Park's music. However, I would LOVE to see a version of TLYGYA will strings. On a side note, my favorite from S&M, an original at that. Should we post examples?
Ah nice. I remember this well. This is why LP need to do something like this. It just sounds very lush and emotive. Yes I agree and see your point. But that is why I suggested the Dave Campbell tracks first. Even if it's just the 6 or 8 tracks I'd love to hear a live string accompaniment one day. TLTGYA would be earth shatteringly beautiful.
I just listened to the Symphonic Moments, Powerless, and The Catalyst Orchestral videos and they were all absolutely amazing! These three videos convinced me that LP could definitely pull of an orchestral collaboration with a symphonic group or possibly even release a studio or remix album based around orchestral arrangements. With a discography as colossal as LP's, they shouldn't have a problem picking out songs that could be totally reworked into orchestral masterpieces! I remember listening to people's submissions for that 2010 contest for the Catalyst. I don't think I heard the one posted here, though. I just can't believe that it didn't win. It was absolutely beautiful in its entirety!
There's that strings-heavy "Leave Out All The Rest" mix that was used for the "CSI" episode in 2008 ...
I'd love to hear a full-blown symphony on a Linkin Park album, like Muse did with "Exogenesis". Along with electronic Reanimation/A Thousand Suns elements... I think that would sound great.
This remix of SIB here has some nice strings, I think LP could do with some more orchestra-based songs
