    To promote the new "Pro Tools 8" from DigiDesign, Mike has posted a video clip on his blog experimenting with the new interface, and in the process creates a short instrumental track by himself & Rob. We usually leave Mike to take care of the news on his end, but thought this was someting all LP fans could enjoy. Head on over to MikeShinoda.com to check it out.

    Wow if this is how the new Linkin Park album is slated to sound I am very excited. It sounds like everything that was good about MTM but more complex and darker.

    wow..... wow..... I am getting chills listening to that instrumental. that would be a perfect intro or if they had some low chester growls over top, it would make for an amazing song. please linkin park, stay with that "edgy" darker sound.

    EDIT: someone has to rip that soon, lol

    EDIT2: nevermind, I ripped that 52 seconds at the end and have been listening to it on repeat and wow.... just wow!

    The CD probably wont sound like this, but it does sound good.

    Well if Mike sees enough people reacting enthusiastically to the sound, maybe the new record will sound like that.

    I'd love the maturity of MTM, but the darkness and complexity of this instrumental. If the new record sounds like that, it will be my favorite LP record to date.

    I agree. I really love the short instrumental for what it is. I'd definitely be happy if this turned into a full instrumental for LP. I could see this being part of track with vocals too. Sounds great.

    Woooooooooooooow, fuckin AWESOME !!! i mean the short instrumental, i even extract it from the video and i'll use it as a ringtone for my GF :D !!!

    To be fair, I think more people expressed a need for a change in sound after Meteora came out.

    Anybody notice how much Rob's drumming has stepped up? It's incredible. I hope he drums like that on the next record.

    Yep. His last solos were also much better than the first ones. I hope he'll continue experiencing new stuff :)

    Very nice instrumental.
