I just double-checked it. I was wrong. When I tried to save the file, it saved it as an .htm, which is called "Linkin Park Message". I used to be able to go in and save the file as the original .gif, but I don't know how to anymore.
But it has definitely changed. Not only has Mike said it himself, but my browser says that I have not visited the site until today (which is NOT true, haha!), and that indicates a change on the website.

EDIT: Or maybe it doesn't. I emptied my history earlier. Whatever, worth mentioning...
What 'bout you guys? Any luck?

It's still the same. A good way to check is to download the file again and compare the file-size to the old one. An example of this would be comparing the file-size of site_two.gif to site_two2.gif. The former is 196.6 Kilobytes (201, 358 bytes) whilst the latter is 279.0 kilobytes (285, 703 bytes).

Also you can tell by the quality of the file, the number of frames in the file and the editing of frames in the file. *edit* maybe my eyes were deceiving me cause I just checked again and I don't see this.*edit 2* Ah, it's actually that the dim text wasn't the only thing changed in the Last frame. The white speckles were removed...

It appears to say the same thing.

It's nothing out of the ordinary. Just basic source code for a webpage. :)

It means, that it's basically a blank page that uses a file named site_two2.gif as a background and it is placed in the center.
Same thing it's always meant... There's nothing suspicious in the source code. It's all standard.

Actually guys, After re-examining the source code for that page, I took all the letters and put them into a web address in chronological order, and it had this image displayed on the front page!

Alright, I'm sorry to say this to the band, and the people involved with them [because I respect them highly]...but out of respect for the band, I'm going to have to be honest and say this campaign has so far been executed VERY poorly. I'm not sure why the band didn't just shell out the cash and use an ARG company like 42 Entertainment (who would've handled this far better), but the truth is that this fails on all accounts. The beginning of an ARG/viral campaign is supposed to lead people to further clues, but there's no 'clues' at all in this image, or anything that helps people figure out what is going on. In fact, this campaign has NOT only not told fans anything (or lead them anywhere), but more importantly...it's now been almost 5 days since the last "message" was posted to that site. All hype has died down considerably, and if the band wanted to generate excitement for the big announcement they should've been keeping this updated almost daily. Not going 4-5 days between updates, and effectively killing all hype in the process.

All I have to say is that I hope the actual marketing for the album goes better than this...because while I don't wanna offend Adam, LP or anyone...this really has left me unimpressed. I almost don't even care what the big announcement is anymore, and that's not a good thing.

I pretty much agree with Derek. This tease has been really sloppy and not very exciting at all. I am getting tired of waiting for something I don't even know is coming or not. When are they going to do something next?

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'end-game' isn't even planned for this yet. It certainly doesn't seem like it is.

They need to lay off the Metal Gear Solid. Kojima is very dissapointed - get down and take 50! Sensei demands it!

    Exactly.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I hope the band is pleased with the way we handled their "message". If you read the @replies to Mike/Phoenix/Chester/Linkin Park's Twitter, most of them are "come to my country" or "f*ck you, what does the message say?" That's kind of extreme, but still. They should've expected the fans to be angry.
