I'm pretty stoked to see what Linkin Park has in store for us! For past couple of records i've not been as excited as I am now.

I'm glad the album is being partly self - produced, i've been pretty bored of the same producer for the past three records, and well all know Mike is a great producer. Excited is not the word!

This is where I stand too. Cautiously optimistic.

I held back from saying this earlier today, thank you! xD

A friendly advice I want to give to my fellow posters, I would refrain from using superlative adjectives to describe what this album can be. Since 2007 LP has been polarizing with their style, and like many other friends around here, we agree that expectations can often lead to disappointments..

Not criticizing, just wanted to point it out.. I'm as excited as you all are.

I'm trying to temper my expectations, because the prerelease hype always has a lot of fluffy language in it ( :toolbox: ?) to get people excited.

But all the changes in their process is a good thing. I love the idea of recording to tape, because one of my biggest complaints about Linkin Park music is that it very often sounds too polished and shiny. Free experimenting onto tape could help give it a grittier, more imperfect feel. More genuine sounding.

It's always a good sign when musicians feel inspired like that. This will be good.

Dave Grohl has been holding the banner high for analog-recording with his albums and the Sound City Studios film, but this is a trend among a lot of different rock musicians these days. And a good one of that. A lot of us are tired of perfect, cold, inhumane recordings. Less computer, more human thank you. The mathematically perfect take always belonged in the pop-world and not rock. When I think about it, LP were among the first rock-acts to make this computer-transition popular in the first place, but despite this I always like to hear parts sounding human and real, also from LP. This is one of the reasons I like Minutes to Midnight. I expect that they will record certain parts to tape and put it in a mix of something that is overall digital with this one though. Still utilising beat-detective, autotune and all the other tools and tricks of Pro-Tools.

Announced that it'll be released in the summer? See ya next spring. :)

But seriously, I'm glad to hear they're giving self-production a try. I always felt like if any band should get to go that route, it's them.
