Um, this song is 100% unoriginal, and that's not to disrespect them, so I hope I don't get a warning, but the entire hook is stolen and all the ideas are stolen, so I wonder what the intention of this album is? I will check out every new song they put out and then give my final opinion, but seriously, they can do so much better and I've seen them do better. This is just disappointing. But I don't absolutely hate it, it's okay for about a minute. :/
The post you did above is stating your dislike for the song but doing it constructively. That's what we ask on these boards. So you're fine. Just bashing them and telling them to "get off this earth" is going to result in a warning 98% of the time.
Well, I was actually somewhat pleased with The Black Parade, the concept was genuine but I find that they stole a lot from other artists for that album, too. Which is totally okay in the music industry, you know, it's hard nowadays for a band to be 100% original and unique, especially a mainstream band, without going off into some totally bizarre psychedelic experiment. But still, this song seems unoriginal in a different way, almost in a 'we don't really care if it's good' attitude and just doing simple unchallenging irrelevant trash. I hope that this is just an example of diversity on the album and it's not all like this.
After listening to this in higher quality on KROQ.com (which I recommend anyone interested in doing), this song isn't THAT bad. I still think it is not very original though. Though by the looks of that "Art is a weapon" video they made that this album may be a bit concept-y also, so we'll see where that goes.
Well, every one of their albums thus far as been pretty concepty. I'll listen in a moment though, have to finish my listen of A Thousand Suns again =D. Edit: I don't know, it was okay, but not great. I'd like to hear it in the context of the album.
The song isn't "great" by any stretch but if you look at the context this next album could be fucking crazy. It's like they decided to take the Black Parade theme of the concept being more outward and prevalent than the first two albums, but aren't taking things as seriously this time. What I hated about MCR around the Black Parade era was how seriously they took the whole concept and tried to live it out in their persona. The only redeeming factor was a couple songs and James Dewees on keys. <3
Hmm...I used to be OK on MCR (I only liked "Helena") until The Black Parade came out, which I grew to really like (not love) Gerard and gang. In fact, my favorite song's "Famous Last Words" cause that actually felt original IMO and more like MCR to me rather than another band. Not saying I'm a fan of their old stuff (I love change, as proof: MTM and ATS are actually my favorite albums ever), but I do hope there could be more meaningful and at the same time surprising-catchy-fun songs on their new album. To tell you the truth, with MCR's recent appearance and this song...I almost feel urged to compare them to Green Day 0.0 And "Na Na Na" sounds more like their "Bleed It Out" than anything. Unless they're trying to get a message through, then I have no idea.
I can't believe what I just read through, all the MCR fans I see commenting on the song on youtube have shown all good thoughts after good thoughts on the song. Well, not saying we're all MCR fans, I don't mean that, but with their split in their fan base it seems like every generation of fans is overall agreeing that it's just good or better. I personally love it, yes, some elements sound familiar but I feel like they aren't beyond the threshold of just inspiration from those familiarities. It still plays in a way that only MCR gives me, and I love it, amazing track in my opinion and the concept set on the album is exciting. It seems to be like a musical comic book. On a side note, PR is where I became a fan. My #1 favorite thing about them is their soul and emotion behind their songs, my hair was on end their whole performance. Before anyone takes "emotion" as "emo", that word has lost too much credibility through society to label my thoughts or the band's style so, please. It doesn't have to be sad or depressing, "Ohh, fml.. zomg"... Just serious and personal, heart-felt. That's all. Just because MCR does that doesn't make them emo, they're very devoted to representing their fans.
I didn't say it sounded like Blink-182. I said I prefer Blink-182's version of this type of music better. I'm not a fan of either band.
