You guys have all probably heard someone say "Nu-Metal is dying!" which could be the case for some bands. I was reading an article on Nu-Metal and this came up...

    Do you find this true?

Basicially, this topic is a deabte. I just didnt have any fancy words to use...

Nu-metal isn't a genre to begin with, as far as I'm concerned.

I hate the nu-metal genre. there really is no description for it other than Rap/Metal. But people place Korn and Slipknot into the Nu-Metal category and they dont incorporate Rap into their music *besides a few songs by korn* I dont get it. Genres are stupid.

Nu-metal in my eyes means Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot, System of a down, Linkin Park, 3rd strike, Mudvayne, Trapt. yes, the genre is almost dead. May I add Deftones to the list and taproot. Only one band, out of the list is reinventing itself and improving, deftones

In regards to the first post:

Andrew (P86) joked at the show at Cornerstone...

    He said something like:

"Yeah, we're Project 86, and in case you've never heard of us, we used to tour with POD...we're that nu-metal band..."
    *Crowd in silence*
"Well, I guess you guys aren't going to laugh at my bad jokes"
    *Crowd laughs*

    wow, sarcasm is beautiful

Slipknot and KoRn have a lot of rap/hip-hop influences in their music as far as I'm concerned.

eh, i guess so. But just because the lyrics are fast and more said than actually sang, i dont think that makes it rap. but then again what would make it rap if not that...your making me confuse myself

And for me, there's good nu metal and bad nu metal, in the same way that there is good death metal and bad death metal.

And think of something else. Lostprophets, although soft, are considered nu metal, and all the metalheads say "#### nu metal, it's soft". Then Slipknot and Soulfly play nu metal, but all those who like soft music are like "wow, nu metal's so brutal, i hate it"...
And both sides hate nu metal.

Nü-metal is a BS genre. As far as I'm concerned, NO band is nü-metal.

So, if no band is nu metal, how can you say it sucks?

I never believed in the genre nu-metal.
I never used it when describing bands.
    So I couldn't care less.

    (Did I make any sense?)

I didn't say it sucks, because a lot of bands I listen to are apparently "nü-metal."

My point was that the genre is bullshit because bands like Slipknot and Soulfly somehow get classified in the same category with Linkin Park and limpbizkit.

It would be like classifying Dimmu Borgir with Alice Cooper.

    Just makes no sense.

Therefore, I feel it's a BS genre that doesn't need to exist, therefore it doesn't exist in my eyes.

I'm so tired of Nu-Metal. Nu-Metal used to be good actually. Now it's just a bunch of bullshit. Good Nu-Metal was in the begging with Korns old stuff as well as Disturbed, Slipknot, and A Perfect Circle. They all changed and Nu-Metal has basically turned into complete #### now. It used to be huger than Rap supposedly but hey.. Music changes.
