I am so easily amused by the Thermochrome effect on the CD.

 

After several listens, i've concluded:

- Survivalism will always, without fail, be stuck in your head after listening to the album

- Either The Good Soldier or The Great Destroyer are the best songs

-I really don't like The Warning all that much, worst song on the album but that's not saying much as they're all damn good.

-Completely destroys With Teeth. Will take a few more listens to decide how it compares to the other 3 big ones.

 

I am so giddy right now.

I walked into Hot Topic to get my patch shirt and cd, and the manager was like "WE HAVE THIS DEAL-" "regarding the cd for 10 bucks and subsequently a NIN shirt for 10 bucks? already there hun." "the cds got this-" "cool color changing thing? yeah. its thermochrome and led NIN fans to a new website. cool huh." "you're a member of ETS aren't you." "yup."

*hugs her shirt* and yeah. the thermochrome amuses me. nin smileys galore

 

I'm interested to find out whether Casey thinks this is Reznor's 'Masterpiece' as he described, or just a brief review, being the resident NIN fanatic.

Another forum I go to has a NIN thread on it and somebody was talking about something that happened this past Friday.

There was a van passing out A.I.R (Art is resistance) gear in Los Angeles (long story how this came to be). Some people received cell phones and was told to keep them on and that it would be their ticket into something happening this Wed. night and that they could bring one guest. The cell phones had 100 pre paid minutes on them. People received a call Sat asking their names, ages, and other stuff and they were told to keep the phone on at all times for another call with more details.

Well turns out there was a secret show, the whole band played to 48 people. They had to board a bus with blacked out windows so they couldnt see where they were going. They were taken to a warehouse, went up an elevator and saw a private show. The show was broken up by SWAT police, which was probably part of the act given the nature of the game

jesus christ, I have never, in my entire life, heard of anything as fucking AWESOME as the whole marketing/back story of this album. the private concert/performance was awesome, especially with the mock SWAT thing at the end. too fucking awesome.

My only thing is that they had to change the key of WITT in order for Trent to sing it... damn.

 

That video was fucking insane.

 

Incredible. This whole concept, and the new album in general. I find it mind blowing and eye-opening.

 

I'd say this album is 3rd, behind TDS and the Fragile.
