OMG I spent the weekend in Duluth and it was spooky! I forgot my tripod converter, so I don't have good photos of anything, but OMG ghosts! And explorer boys! And the best damn coffee I've ever had! And Luce French toast!

 

So you DID get to go. Good.

Otherwise I was gonna call bullshit on your parents.

I spent three hours on my phone calling people, and another hour or so furiously messaging my dad, then a half hour face to face with my mother arguing.

End result? I got a full apology from my father, the keys to the Rav from my little brother, and a kick in the ass from my mother as I left my house. And if she bitches about me using more than my share of minutes, well, she drove me to it.

 

Gah, my parents were like that this last summer...except you can add 'paranoid' to that

Long story short, I had to drive Holly back to Grand Forks to get her train back home...at 4am...and my phone probably rang every 30mins because my mother thought I'd get killed or something =/

I was looking up what the cast of Friends was doing now and saw some recent pictures of her. God.

 

Oh...yeah. Paranoia is a staple of parenthood. Take my folks, for example. They're sure I'm going to get arrested or killed doing what I do (recent stories and columns in the papers haven't done anything for that), and what's worse, my mother told me that if I do get arrested, they're not going to bail me out.

They won't even look at the photos I take. I'm not doing this just to break the law, I'm doing it to document historical sites that would otherwise be forgotten. But do they recognize that? No fucking way.

Blarg. Just another reason that I'm moving out as soon as I grab that all-important flightline job.

Hm...I'll be making regular stops in MSP once I'm flying for the big P...it's a freight run for Dyna-Key (or some company with a name to that effect), and includes an overnight stop. Care to show me around?

Should start next summer or so.

Yeah! With any luck, by then I'll have bumped a set of keys to the U of M tunnels, and I'll have figured out where the motion detectors and security cameras are.
