Mine would be: 1. This Is War 2. 30 Seconds to Mars 3. A Beautiful Lie [a gigantic drop in quality] 4. LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS
Alice in Chains Dirt Jar of Flies Facelift Black Gives Way to Blue Sap Alice in Chains The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here Switch Asymmetry and Sound Awake, and you’ve got my list.
Pierce the Veil: 1. Collide With the Sky 2. Selfish Machines 3. A Flair For the Dramatic 4. Missadventures They really got better with every release until they dropped an average 4th album. Sometimes 4 year gaps can help but this time it did the opposite.
It's rare for me to have listened to ALL of the discography of a single band, (even LP-ahh, don't hate!), but here's one I can. I think there are a few others, but I have to look up the title names first. lol My Chemical Romance I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (kinda tied with "Bullets") Conventional Weapons Danger Days (kinda tied with "Black Parade", both good in their own ways) The Black Parade There really are no bad albums here, IMO though. Can't say that for all bands.
My Chemical Romance: 1. The Black Parade 2. I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love 3. Conventional Weapons 4. Danger Days 5. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
Breaming Benjamin: 1. Phobia 2. We Are Not Alone 3. Saturate 4. Dear Agony 5. Dark Before Dawn 6. [Highly expecting Ember to land here] I enjoy Dark Before Dawn but the new lineup and the break did them no good. Going from 4 great albums to a good album and looking like trash album isnt a good sign. I feel like Disturbed's break did them good whereas Breaking Benjamin's did not for some reason.
(technically, I haven't listened to The Canyon (yet), but I've high hopes for it based off the single O&OA...although the Lies for Liars single-TBATW- is one of my favorites, but the album gets a lower ranking) The Used: The Used In Love and Death The Canyon Imaginary Enemy Vulnerable Lies for the Liars Artwork
Torrey Lanez: (Worst to best): 20. Chixtape 2 19. Conflicts of My Soul 18. Swavey 17. The Bang EP 16. Chixtape 4 15. The New Toronto 14. The New Toronto 2 13. Cruel Intensions EP 12. Kacey Musgraves 1 Golden Hour 2 Same Trailer Different Park 3 Pageant Material Pageant Material feels a bit lackluster and sometimes cringy, so no more than a 7. Same Trailer I'd give it an 8,5 or a 9 at best. Better production, songwriting and vocals, but not quite whre she could go. As to Golden Hour, I gave it a 9,2 after some listens. It built on everything great that Same Trailer had and added a wonderful production and some beautiful vocals all throughout, just missing on one track that felt out of context and the opening of other track where the robotic voice is not good. I hope it will stay in the my best 2018 albums for long.
Ensiferum 1 Ensiferum 2 Iron 3 Victory Songs 4 From Afar 5 One Man Army 6 Two Paths 7 Unsung Heroes Wintersun 1 Time I 2 Wintersun 3 The Forest Seasons Since Jari is/was in both bands I thought it was kinda fitting to do both at the same time! I enjoy all post Jari Ensiferum albums, but not as much as the first two (Ensiferum and Iron) Victory Songs and From Afar come really close though.
Breaking Benjamin 1 Phobia 2 Dark Before Dawn 3 Dear Agony 4 We Are Not Alone 5 Saturate 6 [Unless the deep cuts improve massively, Ember is destined to be number 6] Difficult choice between 1 and 2 and even 3 and 4, which accounts for a very solid discography that will likely be a bit stained by the upcoming record. Dear Agony seems more well written and produced than We Are Not Alone, having a stellar second half and very good first half. As to Phobia and Dark Before Dawn, I find them structurally identical and both very impactful. I could do a top 30 Breaking Benjamin soon, probably after Ember is released, but seemingly no song from Ember will be there if it keeps going this way. Even a top 30 would be difficult to make, because I would have to narrow it down from about 40 songs to only 30. Side note: As to my BMTH rank, I now regard Sempiternal as the best.
