3 men go to a hotel and order a room for the 3 of them. The man behind the desk says a room cost £30. So each man gives the man behind the desk £10 and they go to the room. Later the man behind the desk realises the room only costs £25. He gives the £5 change to the bell-boy and tells him to give it to the men. The bell-boy can't figure out how to split £5 between 3 men so he gives each man a £1 each and keeps the other £2 for himself. So if each man got £1 back that means they paid £9 for the room each. 3 times £9 makes £27 and the £2 from the bell-boy makes £29. So what happened to the other £1? --------------- I Cant figure it out, Neither can my G/F, I hope you guys can because it's driving her crazy lol.
It's to do with how it's been worded. It can be easily calculated by breaking it down into what each man has. 3 men = £3 Bellboy = £2 Manager = £25 So all the money is there. You can also do it like: Each man pays £9. The bell boy has £2. 9x3 = 27 27 - 2 = 25. £25 is how much the manager has.
One of my friends told me this riddle (albeit with US dollars) a couple months ago. There's no answer, because it's all got to do with how the riddle has been worded. The riddle itself is the answer.
