Enter to be their vocalist before the day is over: http://www.myspace.com/strata (See their blog entry.)
Meh. I'd be tempted like just for the shot to sing in a fairly successful band but I doubt they'd want me with me living in England.
Yeah. I'd do it but it says in the post you'd have to be willing to relocate to California. And I don't have the money to do that.
Listening to their stuff...it'd be hard to replace a vocalist like that. I mean I'd give it a go if I weren't located in Germany, but what the hell XD.
I wrote some lyrics for the start of it and they're like this: Take a walk with me to 17th, So we can both find some room to breathe, together, We can hold hands and walk beneath snow, That's falling heavily between our toes, And giving the ground below an icy glow, Reflecting our smiles like they're not our own, We've broken each others hearts before, And we both hope for many more, But right we know we both adore, The love seeping out through our pores.
Rough draft for fun: You've been sitting on the curb waiting for so long I take it you've been hurt 'cause you know you've been proved wrong Before Before you caught my eye, my eye caught you and never let you go No answers to sooth the pain of these questions but you already know We're all found out Rocking back and forth sobbing into your palms I guess you know you've spent too much time with all those psalms Before Before you caught my eye, my eye caught you and never let you go Before you caught my eye, my eye caught you too bad you'll never know I've found you now
in all honestly. the departure of eric from strata is the worst thing that could happen to that band. strata always knew how to make great music, but with eric's lyrical talent and views on the world they became what they are (well, were): a fantastic band with a lot of depth. hell, i even ordered eric's book from amazon.com (i live in germany) just because of his genuis way to write stuff. who ever gets the position of being singer of strata, it doesnt matter. strata will never ever be anything close to what it used to be, quote me on that. good luck for everyone and please, show us your attempts instead of your lyrics, we have the writers cove for that.
I agree. Strata aren't going to be a good band without Eric. He was one of the biggest elements that made them who they were.
Well, we don't need to post our attempts, if the lyrics aren't worth shit. Like you said, Eric was a lyrical genius...hard to compete with. We want to see if we come close to anywhere near good enough to start an attempt. At least that's my point of view.
didnt want to sound rude. just go it guys. sing something and record it. writing lyrics is easy, to bring them to life is the hard part. if you really want to do this then just go ahead with what you think is the best you can create
