Sorry about the double post, but I need to post this. These guys have a really fucking sweet blend of Metalcore and Southern Rock. Y'all can check out their 3 track EP below. Riffs for days.
^I thought the description of it sounded interesting, but just turned out to be two things I fucking mixed together. Now that I've trashed that, allow me to post something else not good. I've been experimenting with my musical sensuality, so here's some gothy techno metal-ish... stuff. Or "aggrotech" as some might call it. GET HYPE Looks like I'll have to pick this one up on vinyl! The artwork is too damn good not to.
What do you even call the style of Norma Jean/Every Time I Die/The Chariot? And where can I get more?
Mathcore/Chaotic-Hardcore? Don't know ^^ Other bands that have a similar sound (or at least go in that direction): Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Architects (especially their old stuff), Rolo Tomassi, Stray From The Path ... just from the top of my head; guess there are a lot more
I've never really seen any specific genre named tied to those bands. They generally all tend to play music in this gray area between metalcore and mathcore and each with their own little idiosyncrasies.
Behemoth just put out a video for Messe Noir. I don't know what I'm gonna do if these guys actually break up (as it's been rumored). They really are my favorite.
So I wanted to bump this thread and see what the favorites of 2015 are so far. I haven't been keeping up so much this year (although there's not quite as much to keep up with as there was last year). But I really only have a couple albums on my list. Blow my mind god damnit!
So far, there has not been an album like The Satanist that's been completly dominating this year. However, the 2 Metal releases I've come back to the most is Ghost's new album Meliora and Soilwork's The Ride Majestic. Deafheaven's New Bermuda is one of my favorite releases of this year, but, I don't really listen to then to satisfy my Metal taste, so I excluded them. You know, I haven't even heard their first album. I suppose I should see what all the hubbub is about. Oh god, the new Soilwork is so good.
You probably mean Sunbather, their second album. It's really pretty stuff. I like it a lot, I don't know if you will haha.
I haven't really listened to a ton of metal this year. Black Breath's Slaves Beyond Death is a fucking monster, though.
The new Panopticon is out, and it is SO GOOD. http://thetruepanopticon.bandcamp.com/album/autumn-eternal
I get what you're saying, but The Satanist and Melana Chasmata are both exceptionally good albums. Stuff like that ain't gonna release all the time.
This band is so ridiculous. It's the cheesiest writing ever, but it's still amazing and theatrical.
Found some filthy ass black metal. Very straightforward, but great nonetheless.
