I'm kind of glad it's short. When I first heard it, it threw me off because it was so different from the other songs. It felt like it didn't belong on the cd to me lol. I actually don't even really like the song, it's nice that Chester screams and all but I just prefer Mikes parts plus that awesome guitar sound before Mike raps.
To be honest, I can actually imagine what it would be like if it were extended to about 2 minutes and 20 seconds or so. Even though I would've preferred if it had been just a tad longer so we got a third chorus and more rap verses but I'm fine with just the way it is. Also, what Dementia said is right. Rise Against is a great band and good example of what a general punk song's duration should be at
I'd actually argue that its brevity is what makes it so good - there's nothing more I could ask for out of that song. It is just the right amount of everything.
The song is 1:46 for one simple reason. It gets out everything that it needs too. On top of that, it would be too hard to scream live for Chester if it was say, 2:50-3:50
... Mother of God... You simple can't hate Rise Against(just kidding, i just love them) And like people already said, it's supposed to be short because it is a tribute to the punk bands Linkin Park listened to when they were younger. Fast and Furious
It's perfect how it is cause LP always knows how to make it perfect. I think it would be boring if it was longer.
Not only "punk" as a genre, but the "hardcore" genre. If you can stomach some brutal vokals and some heavy music, try checking out the band hatebreed. A lot of their songs are about 2 mins long, but full of awesome. Also, "Firecracker." For your conveinience: Here's a video of 2 songs that equal 3 mins.:
Damn near perfect as it is. Maybe I'd have added a reprise of Mikes Folky verse after the bridge, but its fine otherwise. It really reminds me of Sevendust's "Born to Die" Seriously, the outro is really similar with the way it fades out then randomly comes back in again:
Indeed your right! Victimized has guitars all over it. Heavy Palm muting, crazy lead parts (similar to the solo of W4TE?) and fucking DOUBLE BASS during Mikes Folky breakdown (a first for a LP song) I mean sure, it doesn't have the metal crunch like some of the HT stuff, but its pretty intense.
Playing VICTIMIZED on my Xbox 360 on my huge Samsung LCD has given me some new sounds that I never knew existed.
This is one of my favs from LT. It's so fucking heavy. Chesters screams just. . . Ugh. It's insane. And Mike's rap is so dope. "Acting like they wanna riot/its a riot I'll give em. One of my favorite lines from the band.
