Sometimes Chester blows mind but every now and then he has a really off performance. Like the x games streaming. Which was weird cause he sounded amazing in the rock am ring performance
I honestly always thought Linkin Park was mediocre, but when they're spot on it's impressive. As for other really bad-sounding bands, ones that are notable to me are Dragonforce, and sometimes Franz Ferdinand has a bad day. Green Day has a bad day sometimes but they can also be spot on. I don't really listen to a lot of bands that sounds bad live, but those are the ones I can think of (I don't actually listen to Dragonforce but I was curious how they sounded so I looked up some YouTube videos).
Slipknot during the Subliminal Verses touring cycle were pretty bad, if only for Corey Taylor sounding like shit at the time. Not sure what kind of spiritual journey he went on to become awesome again for All Hope Is Gone, but I'm sure glad he did.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsDB7vgftvM Blink-182, the vocalist sounds really bad performing this song. I don't think there is any performance that he sound good live.
He was going through some issues, mental and physical. During the 2005 arena tour Corey mentioned, at my show, that he was advised to sit out the tour because his throat was in such bad shape. He attributes it to trying to sing and scream a different way than he'd done previously, but I don't buy it. == And seeing as Brent Hinds is my avatar, Mastodon should get some sort of mention for their vocal performances. But they try. And if you're going to see Mastodon for the vocals you were probably introduced to Linkin Park because of their complex musicianship. And hey, if you can sound like a dying cat and it actually meshes with the music more power to your drunken ass.
From personal experience Lostprophets and Bullet For My Valentine absolutely suck live. Same goes for Doesitoffendyouyeah? and The Bravery.
I saw Bullet twice and they were sick both times. Of course, both times I saw them were before even their second album came out.
I saw them at the show they debuted the song Scream Aim Fire and they sucked. But this may have been as Matt was going through his rough period because he couldn't sing for shit. Their EQ was all fucked up as well and they kept fucking up the solos.
Linkin park are one of the best sounding bands live, in regards to chesters voice his voice is getting better every year. slipknot sounds terrible
