I think it'll be nice to hear a new Linkin Park sound regardless. Not only for us fans, but for critics too. Most criticisms I've personally heard about LP was that they "always sounded the same".
    Exciting! :D

Yeah, I've always said that with Minutes to Midnight, they wanted to try something different and experiment with what they were capable of, and more than anything, gave them a chance to work on their sound and find their feet. I think with this new record, they will be able to apply what they learned with MTM, and work that into what they have done before that to create something completely new and exciting. I think this will be their most exciting album yet.

Yup. I'm confident that they'll use what they've learned well. :)

I actually think this album will define a sound for them for any albums they release afterward. I mean, can you really place LP into any category right now other than "Making music they like to make?" But then again, their 5th album could go in a completely different direction.

Also I do hope it sounds a bit more like Muse or Pink Floyd. I like She Couldn't, but it's not that high up on my favorite tracks from LP. If it were a bit more electronic and there were no 3rd party samples I think I'd like it a lot more because I've just always admired LP for coming up with their own samples and such.

Bout time Mike starts rapping again. Funny how this radio station provided more news than LP has so far.

The band were talking about how the album was shaping up to sound ages ago.

That might've been the point. That kind of thing comes from the perspective of someone who just heard the new material for the first time, so they convey the excitement a little better ...

Maybe I disregarded it then because of how they described MTM beforehand was nothing like it sounded.

It's always better to just edit your last post by multi-quoting, instead of double posting. :)

"Almost proggy" -> That make me very happy. + the fact that he says "at it's full lenght" possibly implying it's on the longer side.
I've been hoping LP would push into more prog territory for ages, and I recall Rob mentioning they had been experimenting with time signatures a lot more on this one. I think Chester also said something about time sigs somewhere.... not sure though
Anyway, that pushes my excitement up a few notches, but I'll still keep my expectations down.

He said "If you are one of those people", not that he was one of those people.

Oh right, I get you. It's kind of like when people make that accusation of the band, even though if my memory serves me correctly there was relatively little of that that came from the band themselves, so I tend to disregard what those people say on the matter.

I think it was more him referring to the perception some have that Linkin Park songs are repetitive and samey, which in fairness is pretty true to some degree, at least on their first two albums.

Same. Sounds like if they're ere sending in guards with demos to show off a lot more people would be getting visits and the band would be hyping it. Unless it's part of a whole "Snowy .gif, we're being all cryptic and shit" campaign stunt they're doing.

I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit though. Just in case. That way if I'm wrong I can still be excited. A no-lose situation.
